FROM THE 1ST TO THE 3RD OF FEBRUARY 2017 SMIT & ZOON’S WET-END AND FINISHING DIVISIONS WILL BE PRESENT AT THE INDIA INTERNATIONAL LEATHER FAIR (IILF) IN CHENNAI, INDIA. WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU AT OUR STAND 2-12-E IN HALL 2.
While enjoying some typical Dutch and Italian snacks, our technical – and commercial staff will be available to tell you all about the wide variety of finished and unfinished leathers presented in our booth – most of them focusing on the Indian market.
Some of the innovative new products we will be presenting include the following:
Finishing: BASEMASK
Our Finishing division will focus on its BASEMASK series, a range of products which enables an easy upgrade of leathers, masking all defects while leaving an extraordinary natural look at the same time. Creating a better cutting yield, BASEMASK will also create a uniform surface which is the ideal starting point of all successive applications.
Wet-end: three themes
Sustainable
Being a 7th generation family business, sustainability is in our DNA. We believe the only way to keep the leather industry vital for the generations to come is to develop more sustainable products and working methods. In line with this, during the fair we will show you Chrome free and Simplicity articles. SYNTAN S is a high self tanning power replacement syntan developed for Chrome free tanning systems. Very high fullness and softness can be achieved with Syntan S combined with SYNTAN VP 223. With its Simplicity concept Smit & zoon will show how water saving and usage of minimum number of chemical products can be achieved. SYNTHOL UF 737is a single fatliquor that can be used in any kind of article; the degree of softness is adjusted by altering the amounts of fatliquors applied. It gives deep inner softness with grain tightness and neck wrinkles are flattened.
Extreme soft
During the fair Smit & zoon will present two new fatliquors to the Indian market: SYNTHOL CH 777 and SYNTHOL GT 616. Synthol CH 777 is a fatliquor free of sulphochlorinated paraffin that was especially designed to make light-weight ultra soft leathers. It is very suitable to be used as the main fatliquor for garment, upholstery and floater-type articles. Floaters made with SYNTHOL CH 777 show a better, more uniform milling pebble with a more intense dyeing, when being compared with a conventional fatliquor system. Furthermore Smit & zoon will be showing some leathers fatliquored with SYNTHOL GT 616, a new generation fiber relaxing softening agent with high soft and flat grain that shows low COD and BOD values. The exhaustion of conventional fatliquors notably improves when combined with SYNTHOL GT 616.
Classic / vintage
Rich textures, a retro-feel and baroque prints – the classic/vintage fashion trend is here to stay and will also more and more penetrate the leather industry. During the IILF Smit & zoon will present a combined Wet-end / Finishing collection showing some great leather articles taking you on a fashionable trip down memory lane. Within this theme Smit & zoon displays articles developed with SYNTHOL LA 915 and SYNTHOL SL 335. SYNTHOL LA 915 is a concentrated lanoline based fatliquor that provides leathers with a warm and waxy handle, reduces water absorption and adds notable fullness to any fatliquor combination. It gives good writing effect on nubucks and suedes and avoids grain crack on heavily retanned leathers. SYNTHOL SL 335 is a semi synthetic fatliquor especially designed for tight grain uppers, medium fullness and create burnish effects.
